摘要: We propose a trade-off theory of strategic insider trading which balances the trading competition and information flow effects. The availability of corporate insiders’ individual-trade-level data enables us to closely follow insiders’ trades and analyse their strategies. In line with our theoretical prediction, we find that a cautious strategy of trading in small tranches across multiple times is widely adopted by the insiders when informed traders such as short sellers are highly sensitive and responsive to their trades. Hence, an insider’s decision to adopt a pre-emptive or cautious strategy depends largely on outsiders’ ability to extract information from the insider.

主讲人简介：赵怀南，英国杜伦大学金融学博士。现任英国拉夫堡大学金融学教授，金融与会计系主任。曾担任英国克兰菲尔德大学管理色情电影公司金融学教授，诺丁汉大学商色情电影金融学副教授，伦敦金融城卡斯商色情电影、杜伦大学商色情电影金融学助理教授。主要研究领域为公司金融，金融市场，公司治理，兼并与收购。其研究成果发表于Review of Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Financial Research, European Financial Management, Financial Review等。
